About our Binance News

Latest news on Binance, covering the Binance crypto exchange, BNB, BNB Chain, Binance.US, Binance Pay, CZ (Changpeng Zhao), Richard Teng, Yi He, regulation, hacks and security, withdrawals, proof of reserves, trading volume and stablecoins.

Binance is a global cryptocurrency exchange founded in 2017 by Changpeng Zhao, widely known as CZ, and Yi He. It grew within a few years into one of the largest platforms in the world by trading volume, offering spot trading, futures, staking and payments to users in many countries. Its BNB token and the BNB Chain ecosystem extend its reach well beyond the exchange itself.

Regulation and security are the themes that most often drive Binance headlines. In 2023 the company pleaded guilty to US anti-money-laundering failings and agreed to pay $4.3 billion, and Zhao stepped down as chief executive. The US securities regulator later dropped its separate civil case, and Zhao received a presidential pardon on 23 October 2025. Binance has since pursued licences in more jurisdictions, including a global authorisation in Abu Dhabi.

Security is a recurring concern. Binance reported a hack of around 7,000 bitcoin in 2019, and in October 2026 it disclosed a far larger incident that it said affected billions of dollars' worth of assets. Events like these put custody, withdrawals, frozen funds and proof of reserves under scrutiny. Critics also point to the pardon's political context and to questions about centralisation on BNB Chain.

Binance is also a community. Retail traders, BNB holders, developers building on BNB Chain and merchants accepting Binance Pay all follow its decisions closely. The exchange has drawn attention for scams, user protection and the role of stablecoins in everyday crypto trading, particularly for cross-border transfers and payments.

Binance began as an exchange launched out of China in 2017 and later moved offshore without a single declared headquarters. BNB first appeared that year as an Ethereum token before moving to its own blockchain, which became BNB Chain. Binance.US operates as a separate platform for American customers, and Richard Teng has led the company since 2023, joined by Yi He as co-CEO.
