Founded in 1972 as the Atlanta Flames, the team was relocated to Calgary, Alberta in 1980 and currently play their home matches at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
The Flames have one Stanley Cup title to their name from the 1988/98 season where they defeated the Montreal Canadiens over six games.
They also have minor league affiliations with the Calgary Wranglers of the American Hockey League (AHL) and the Rapid City Rush of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).
