The Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the most storied franchises in the National Hockey League. An Original Six club competing in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference, the Leafs have won 13 Stanley Cups, a total bettered only by the Montreal Canadiens. Owned by Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, the club commands one of the largest and most devoted fanbases in world sport.

Recent seasons have brought sweeping change in Toronto. After years of playoff heartbreak despite star-laden rosters, the club embarked on a major reshaping of its front office and playing squad. The Leafs selected forward Gavin McKenna first overall in the 2026 NHL Draft, adding a generational prospect to a core featuring captain Auston Matthews, William Nylander and Matthew Knies.

Few teams inspire the passion the Leafs do. Hockey Night in Canada broadcasts, the century-old rivalry with the Canadiens, the Battle of Ontario against the Ottawa Senators and fierce meetings with the Boston Bruins are fixtures of Canadian sporting culture. The club's AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, develops the next generation, while community programmes connect the organisation with fans across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.

Founded in 1917, the club took the Maple Leafs name in 1927 under Conn Smythe and spent decades at the famous Maple Leaf Gardens before moving to its current downtown Toronto arena. Legends such as Dave Keon, Darryl Sittler, Doug Gilmour and Mats Sundin built a rich heritage, yet the club has not lifted the Stanley Cup since 1967, the longest active drought in the NHL and a defining storyline for every new season.
