    About our European Commission News

Latest news on the European Commission, the executive branch of the European Union (EU), responsible for proposing and implementing legislation, enforcing EU laws, and managing the day-to-day operations of the EU.

The Commission is made up of 27 Commissioners, one from each EU member state, who are appointed by their respective national governments and serve a five-year term. The President of the Commission is also appointed by the member states, subject to approval by the European Parliament.

The Commission has a wide range of responsibilities, including developing and proposing new legislation, managing the EU's budget, negotiating international agreements, and enforcing EU laws in areas such as competition, trade, and environmental regulation.

In addition, the Commission plays a key role in promoting the EU's values and interests both within Europe and around the world, representing the EU in international forums and working to strengthen relationships with non-EU countries.
