The National League West (NL West) is one of the six divisions in Major League Baseball (MLB) and consists of five teams located in the western part of the United States. Established in 1969 as part of the National League, the division has a rich baseball heritage, featuring some of the most exciting and competitive teams in the sport. The teams in the NL West are:

Arizona Diamondbacks: Based in Phoenix, Arizona, the Diamondbacks were established in 1998 as an expansion team. The club has won one World Series championship in 2001 and is known for its distinctive colour scheme, featuring Sedona red, Sonoran sand, and black.

Colorado Rockies: Based in Denver, Colorado, the Rockies were established in 1993 as an expansion team. They have not yet won a World Series championship but had a memorable run to the World Series in 2007. The team plays at the high-altitude Coors Field, which is known for its high-scoring games.

Los Angeles Dodgers: Based in Los Angeles, California, the Dodgers were originally established in 1883 as the Brooklyn Atlantics before relocating to Los Angeles in 1958. They have won seven World Series championships, most recently in 2020. The team has a storied history and a dedicated fan base that supports the club in their iconic Dodger Blue.

San Diego Padres: Based in San Diego, California, the Padres were established in 1969. They have yet to win a World Series championship but have made the playoffs multiple times. The team is known for its navy blue, white, and gold colour scheme, as well as its beautiful waterfront ballpark, Petco Park.

San Francisco Giants: Based in San Francisco, California, the Giants were originally established in 1883 as the New York Gothams before relocating to San Francisco in 1958. The team has won eight World Series championships, including three in the 2010s (2010, 2012, and 2014). The Giants have a storied history and a passionate fan base that supports the team in their distinctive orange and black colours.

The NL West is known for its competitive nature and intense rivalries, particularly between the Dodgers and the Giants, which is one of the oldest and most storied rivalries in the sport. The division has produced numerous pennant winners and World Series champions, showcasing the talent and competitiveness of the teams within it.
