Latest news on the San Francisco Giants, a professional baseball team based in San Francisco, California, and part of the National League’s West Division. Established in 1883 the Giants are one of the oldest franchise teams in American baseball and were initially located in New York. When the side were first formed they went under the name New York Gothams before rebranding to the New York Giants in 1885. The Giants kept this team name until they were relocated to San Francisco in 1958.
The Giants have won the World Series a total of eight times, with five of those victories coming before their relocation to the west coast. Once the MLB side moved to San Francisco it took them over 50 years to win their sixth title which finally came in 2010. This victory then led to the Giants winning two more Championships in the next four years. The Giants plays in the colours of black, gold, orange and cream.
Also known as the Orange and Black, the San Francisco side play their home games at Oracle Park, which is located in the SoMa district. The stadium was first opened in the year 2000 and has a capacity of over 41,000.
