The UK Royal Family News
The UK Royal Family comprises Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom, and her close relations, and is also known as the House of Windsor, and the British monarchy.
Queen Elizabeth II has been the UK's head of state since 1952, and has ruled for longer than any other British monarch. Only those born into the Royal Family can be in line to the throne. Queen Elizabeth II and her late husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, had four children, and have eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Those who marry a royal also become a member of the Royal Family.
As well as The Queen, other senior members of the UK Royal Family include their son Charles, Prince of Wales, who is first in line to the throne, and his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall. Charles' eldest son and second in line to the throne is Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, married to Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (sometimes referred to by her maiden name, Kate Middleton). The Queen's other children are Anne, the Princess Royal; Andrew, the Duke of York; and Edward, the Earl of Wessex. Sixth in line to the throne, but no longer a working member of the Royal Family is Charles' younger son, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, who is married to Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex (sometimes referred to by her maiden name, Meghan Markle).
