About our Annie Andrews news

Latest news on Annie Andrews, the Democrat elected to the US Senate from South Carolina, covering the South Carolina Senate race, her win over Darline Graham, her work as a pediatrician, healthcare, Medicaid, abortion, gun violence and campaign news.

Dr Annie Andrews is a pediatrician from Charleston who worked for more than a decade at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Children's Hospital. On 3 November 2026 she won the Senate seat, becoming the first woman elected to the Senate from South Carolina and the first Democrat to win it since 1998.

Andrews first ran for office in 2022, when she lost the 1st congressional district race to Nancy Mace. She later founded Their Future, a group focused on children's issues such as gun violence, climate change and childhood health. She announced her Senate bid in May 2025, challenging Lindsey Graham, and won the Democratic nomination in June 2026.

Graham died in July 2026, and his sister Darline Graham was appointed to the seat and ran as the Republican candidate. The race tightened as Donald Trump campaigned for Graham, former South Carolina governors endorsed Andrews, and polls showed a dead heat. Graham conceded after the vote.

Her campaign centred on affordable healthcare, Medicaid, protecting children and opposing South Carolina's abortion restrictions. Supporters in the Lowcountry and across the state saw a mother of three and doctor as an outsider, while critics attacked her record and views during a heated campaign.

Whether you follow South Carolina politics, the Democratic Party or the US Senate, staying informed about Annie Andrews matters. The NewsNow Annie Andrews feed gathers the latest headlines on her Senate work, votes, speeches, interviews and policy priorities from reliable sources, in one place.
