Both Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen are Democrats. Of the eight Representatives, seven are Democrats and one is a Republican. Maryland has a Democrat governor, Wes Moore, who was elected in 2022. The state legislature is also controlled by the Democrats, who have majorities in both chambers.
