About our Respiratory Syncytial Virus news

Latest news on Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), a common respiratory virus that primarily affects young children and infants. It is a contagious virus that spreads through coughing, sneezing, and contact with contaminated surfaces.

RSV can cause mild to severe respiratory symptoms, including coughing, fever, wheezing, runny nose, and difficulty breathing. In severe cases, it can lead to bronchiolitis (inflammation of the small airways in the lungs) and pneumonia (infection of the lungs).

RSV is most common during the fall, winter, and early spring months. Infants and young children, especially those born prematurely, those with underlying medical conditions, and those with weakened immune systems, are at higher risk for severe illness from RSV.
